Hotfix to update the RM Proxy Settings ADM Template [HFXCC3027]
Published Date : 12 Jun 2003 Last Updated : 13 Feb 2020 Content Ref: DWN106705

Description

**Please note this only applies to Community Connect 3™ and RM Smart-Tools 3 networks**

Any references to Community Connect 3 in this document apply equally to RM Smart-Tools 3.

Important

Community Connect 3 Service Release 2 (SR2) must already be fully installed on the network before installing this hotfix.

Problem Statement

On Community Connect 3 networks where the Internet connection is not made through a proxy server, disabling the Internet for a user results in that user being unable to access Learning Resources and any other web-based content.  This is because specifying the addresses that should be accessed without going through the proxy server can only be done when setting up a proxy server connection.  Since the mechanism for disabling the Internet sets up a 'rogue' proxy server connection, all access to web resources tries to use this connection.

Solution Statement

HFXCC3027 separates the settings to set up a proxy server connection from those that set up a bypass list.  This means that users for whom general Internet access is disabled can still access specific sites without attempting to connect to them through the 'rogue' proxy server.

What will the Hotfix change?

HFXCC3027 installs a new version of the RM Proxy Settings.adm file, updating the file in the Internet & Email Group Policy Object and in the master ADM template folder.

Platforms

This hotfix should be installed if your Internet connection is not made through a proxy server.  It is not necessary for any other reason.

HFXCC3027 may be installed on Community Connect 3 networks where Service Release 2 or Service Release 3 are already fully installed. The hotfix is installed on Domain Controller servers only. It should not be installed on Member servers.
