Hotfix to update Outlook 2000 Internet Mail configuration [HFXCC3030]
Published Date : 12 Jun 2003 Last Updated : 13 Feb 2020 Content Ref: DWN106866

Description

**Please note this only applies to Community Connect 3™ and RM Smart-Tools 3 networks**

Any references to Community Connect 3 in this document apply equally to RM Smart-Tools 3.

This hotfix is included in Service Release 4. If you have already installed SR4, you do not need to install the hotfix. If you have not yet installed SR4, review the information below to decide if you wish to install this hotfix now.

Important
At least Community Connect 3 Service Release 2 (SR2) must already be fully installed on the network before installing this hotfix. The hotfix can be applied to SR2 or SR3 networks.

Problem Statement

The RM Outlook 2000 Internet Mail package causes the default printer setting to be removed when a user logs on.  As a result, users have to either set the default printer manually each time they log on, or choose a printer to print to each time they print a document.

Solution Statement

The problem is a side-effect of the mechanism used to create the necessary registry entries in the user's profile, which involves calling Windows Installer to create the entries.  By doing this before the default printer is set, the problem is avoided.

What will the Hotfix change?

HFXCC3030 installs a new version of the RM Outlook 2000 Internet Mail package and automatically installs this on stations which have the original package allocated. The stations need to be restarted after the hotfix is installed to enable the new version to be allocated.

Platforms

HFXCC3030 may be installed on Community Connect 3 networks with Service Release 2 or Service Release 3.

It is only required if Outlook 2000 is being used as the e-mail client. The hotfix should be installed on all Domain Controller servers only. It does not need to be installed on Member servers.
