Update to RM Resource-Finder on Community Connect 3 [HFXCC3208]

Description

**Please note this only applies to Community Connect� 3 and RM Smart-Tools 3 networks.**

Before installing any software update, please refer to TEC90813 and DWN59018 on the RM Support Web site. These articles detail RM's recommendations regarding software update installation and support.

Any references to Community Connect 3 in this document apply equally to RM Smart-Tools 3.



Platforms

Community Connect 3 networks with Service Release 5 or above.


Cause

A recent update to RM Resource-Finder, included in Microsoft Internet Explorer(IE7) for CC3, to allow it to work with IE7 has caused an issue where opening Staff Subject Areas through Learning Resources when accessed through Easylink, didn't work.

HFXCC3208 delivers a new version of RM Resource-Finder to allow opening of Staff Subject Areas when accessing Learning Resources through RM Easylink.



Requirements

HFXCC3208 should be installed on all Community Connect 3 Domain Controller servers beginning with the Forest root. Servers will not need to be restarted after applying this software update.



Download Instructions

  1. Click the HFXCC3208.exe file link to download the Software Update.
  2. Choose to Save the file, browse to the temporary location you wish to save it to (eg D:\temp) and click Save.
  3. When it has downloaded, follow the installation instructions below to install the Software Update.

Installation Instructions

How to install the Software Update
  1. Download HFXCC3208.exe
  2. Log on to your first Community Connect 3 domain controller as a system administrator and copy the Update to a temporary location (eg D:\temp).
  3. Run the Update by double-clicking the self-extracting executable file (HFXCC3208.exe). The Update will extract files automatically and run the RM Installation Assistant to begin the installation.
  4. When prompted, click Continue.
  5. The installation will proceed automatically. When prompted that the RM Installation Assistant has finished, click Finish.
  6. Repeat steps 2 to 5 for each additional Community Connect 3 domain controller.

Installing after cancelling a previous install
  1. Browse to D:\RMNetwork\RMManage\RM Hotfixes\HFXCC3208_extracted and double-click the file RM Installation Assistant.exe. (If this folder or its contents does not exist, re-run the HFXCC3208.exe file downloaded from the RM Support Web site).
  2. Follow the procedures in 'How to install the Software Update' from step 4 above.

Important - Interaction with RM Service Releases

The components of HFXCC3208 will be included in a future Community Connect 3 Service Release.

HFXCC3208 is not included in Service Release 5 or 6.
