Hotfix to install Microsoft IE6 SP1 for Windows 2000 Server on Community Connect 3 servers [HFXCC3021]
Published Date : 19 May 2003 Last Updated : 13 Feb 2020 Content Ref: DWN112776

Description

**Please note this only applies to Community Connect 3 and RM Smart-Tools 3 networks**

Any references to Community Connect 3 in this document apply equally to Smart-Tools 3.

Issue Statement
Community Connect 3 servers use Microsoft Internet Explorer 6 (IE6).  Microsoft have released Service Pack 1 for IE6.  HFXCC3021 contains Internet Explorer 6 Service Pack 1 in a format easily applied to Community Connect 3 servers running the Windows 2000 Server operating system. HFXCC3021 is not required for servers running Windows Server 2003.

Solution Statement

HFXCC3021 is included in Service Release 4 (SR4). If you have installed SR4, you do not need to apply this hotfix. If you have not yet installed SR4, it is recommended that you do so in preference to installing HFXCC3021.

Apply HFXCC3021 to Community Connect 3 servers running Service Release 2 or Service Release 3 as detailed in the installation instructions below.

Note: HFXCC3021 does not affect Community Connect 3 workstations - IE6 SP1 is part of Windows XP Service Pack 1a which is provided by Community Connect 3 Service Release 3 (SR3).

Note: Each server will need to be restarted after running the hotfix and the administrator user should log in again to complete the installation.  Installing the hotfix will take about 15 minutes per server; ensure you also allow sufficient time to reboot each server.

What will this hotfix change ?

HFXCC3021 contains Microsoft Internet Explorer 6 Service Pack 1 applicable to Windows 2000 Server.

More information on the issues resolved by this service pack is available from Microsoft's website http://www.microsoft.com
