Software Update to resolve missing packages issue in Client Connect networks [HFXCC3215]

Description

Before installing any software update, please refer to TEC90813 and DWN59018 on the RM Support Web site. These articles detail RM's recommendations regarding software update installation and support.

Any references to Community Connect 3™ in this document apply equally to RM Smart-Tools 3.



Platforms

This Software Update is designed for deployment on Client Connect (Community Connect 3 networks) where the symptoms described below have been observed.


Symptoms

For some Client Connect sites, when the RMPackageUpdater utility is run, certain packages are found to be missing from the packages list.



Cause

The missing packages have a non-standard or missing prefix for the version number in the RMPackages share folder structure, eg
    D:\RMNetwork\RMManage\Packages\Applications\packagename\V.1.0.0.0 
or
    D:\RMNetwork\RMManage\Packages\Applications\packagename\1.0.0.0   
rather than the standard
    D:\RMNetwork\RMManage\Packages\Applications\packagename\v1.0.0.0


Requirements

Impact on your network
  • This Software Update will need to be installed on all Community Connect 3 Domain Controllers.
  • Servers will not need to be restarted after applying this Software Update.
  • Workstations will not need to be restarted after applying this Software Update.
  • HFXCC3215 will update RM Station Manager to version 2.48.6.0.


Download Instructions

To download HFXCC3215 from the Download section below, right-click the diskette icon for HFXCC3215.exe and select Save Target As.

When the Save As dialog appears and asks for a location to save the download to, browse to the folder into which you wish to save the Software Update files and click Save.

Installation Instructions

How to install the Software Update

(Note: If you previously started to install the Software Update but cancelled the operation, follow the installation instructions in the Installing after cancelling a previous install section below)

  1. Download HFXCC3215.
  2. Log on to your first Community Connect 3 domain controller as a System Administrator and copy the Security Update to a temporary location(eg D:\temp).
  3. Run the Software Update by double-clicking the self-extracting executable file (HFXCC3215.exe). The Software Update will extract files automatically and run the RM Installation Assistant to begin the installation.
  4. When prompted, click Continue.
  5. The installation will proceed automatically. When prompted that the RM Installation Assistant has finished, click Finish.
  6. Repeat Steps 2-5 at all your other Community Connect 3 domain controllers.

Installing after cancelling a previous install

  1. Browse to D:\RMNetwork\RMManage\RM Hotfixes\HFXCC3215_extracted and double-click the file RM Installation Assistant.exe. (If this folder or its contents does not exist, re-run the HFXCC3215.exe file you obtained from your Support provider).
  2. Follow the procedures in How to install the Software Update from step 4 above.

Important - Interaction with RM Service Releases

The components of HFXCC3215 may be included in a future Community Connect 3 Service Release.

HFXCC3215 is not included in Service Release 6 and should not be installed prior to this release.



More Information

What will this Software Update change?
  • HFXCC3215 will update RM Station Manager (aka RM AppAssign) to version 2.48.6.0

This component exists both on servers and workstations. For the current Software Update, only server update is strictly required. However, workstations will be automatically updated (when they reboot) purely to provide consistent versions across all machines.
