Summary
Software Update to allow RM Auditor and RM Local Support Tools packages to be installed in a multi VLAN environment.
Description
Before installing any Software Update, please refer to TEC90813 and DWN59018 in the Other Useful Articles section below. These articles detail RM's recommendations regarding Software Update installation and support.
Any references to Community Connect 3 in this document apply equally to RM Smart-Tools 3.
Platforms
This Software Update is only required on Community Connect 3 multi VLAN networks where RM Auditor or RM Local Support Tools packages will not install successfully.
Symptoms
RM Auditor and RM Local Support Tools packages (RMC3IEngine, RM SM Utility and RM LST SAG) will not install successfully on a Community Connect 3 multi VLAN network where domain controllers and workstations are on different VLANs.
If RM Auditor or RM Local Support Tools packages are allocated to workstations that are on a different VLAN to the Community Connect 3 domain controllers, these will fail to install.
Cause
These packages use a NetBIOS broadcast mechanism to locate domain controllers on the network and obtain details of the user account used by RM Auditor and RM Local Support Tools. On multi VLAN networks, NetBIOS broadcasts may be blocked and hence the domain controllers cannot be found. This update delivers a new version of the program used to install all of these packages to workstations. The new version will also obtain domain controller details via RM Location Services to ensure that all domain controllers on the network can be found.
Requirements
You should only install this update if you are experiencing issues installing RM Auditor or RM Local Support Tools packages as described.
This update should be installed on all Community Connect 3 domain controller servers beginning with the Forest Root. Servers will not need to be restarted after applying this Software Update. Workstations will need to be restarted after allocating the new package.

How to install the Update
Note: If you previously started to install the Update but cancelled the operation, follow the installation instructions in the 'Installing after cancelling a previous install' section below:
Log on to the Community Connect 3 server as an Administrator (not SystemAdmin) and copy the Update to a temporary location (eg D:\temp).
Run the Update by double-clicking the self-extracting executable file (HFXCC3220.exe). The Update will extract files automatically and run the RM Installation Assistant to begin the installation.
When prompted, click Continue.
The installation will proceed automatically. When prompted that the RM Installation Assistant has finished, click Finish.
Repeat steps 2-5 at all your other Community Connect 3 domain controllers.
Use the RM Management Console to allocate the RM Auditor LST VLAN Fix system package to workstations where RM Auditor or RM Local Support Tools packages have failed to install. If these packages are assigned at Main Site, allocate the RM Auditor LST VLAN Fix package to Main Site so that it will also install on any workstations that are subsequently built.
Restart all Community Connect 3 workstations to complete the installation across the network.
Installing after cancelling a previous install
Browse to D:\RMNetwork\RMManage\RM Hotfixes\HFXCC3220_extracted and double-click the file RM Installation Assistant.exe (if this folder or its contents does not exist, re-run the HFXCC3220.exe file downloaded from the RM Support Web site).
Follow the procedures in 'How to install the Update' from step 3 above.
Important - Interaction with RM Service Releases
This update is not included in any Community Connect 3 service releases. It is not be required on RM Community Connect 4.
More Information
What will this Update change?
HFXCC3220 will install a new package RM Auditor LST VLAN Fix. When this package is installed on workstations, it will install a new version of the program used in the installation of RM Auditor and RM Local Support Tools packages. Workstations will restart when RM Auditor LST VLAN Fix is installed.
In addition, if any of the RM Auditor and RM Local Support Tools packages have failed to install on a workstation, RM Auditor LST VLAN Fix will force an update to the packages that have failed.
