Summary
Community Connect 3 hotfix for System Administrator screensavers not being password protected after applying Service Release 3.
Description
**Please note this only applies to Community Connect 3™ and RM Smart-Tools 3 networks**
Any references to Community Connect 3 in this document apply equally to RM Smart-Tools 3.
Problem Statement
After Community Connect 3 Service Release 3 is installed, the screen saver for System Administrators is no longer password protected. This is a security risk since administrators could leave themselves inadvertently logged-in. This problem is caused by Microsoft Windows XP Service Pack 1, which is included in Service Release 3. In Windows XP Service Pack 1, Microsoft changed the data type of the policy value that controls the password protection of screensavers. As a result, the value set in the System Administrator UserType GPO (Group Policy Object) is not of the correct data type and is ignored.
Solution Statement
HFXCC3038 updates the value in the System Administrator UserType GPO with the updated data type.
It also updates the RM Windows 2000 User Policies ADM template in all RM-provided UserType GPOs on the system.
What will the Hotfix change?
HFXCC3038 updates the System Administrator UserType GPO and the RM Windows 2000 User Policies ADM template as noted above.
Who should install this Hotfix?
You should apply this hotfix if you are running a Community Connect 3 network upgraded to Service Release 3, and are experiencing the problem described in the Problem Statement section.
HFXCC3038 should be applied to all Community Connect 3 domain controllers on your network. It does not need to be applied to Community Connect 3 member servers or workstations.
