RM Virus Protect 4 (RMVP4) Software Update for Community Connect 3 [HFXCC3227]
Published Date : 18 Mar 2009 Last Updated : 13 Feb 2020 Content Ref: DWN1397444

Description

Any references to Community Connect 3 in this document apply equally to RM Smart-Tools 3.

This update is designed to address an issue where a large number of Symantec Anti Virus events are written to the Application event log specifying files that have not been scanned. The update will define specific file extensions that will not be scanned and will create a new event log group called Symantec to separate out the Symantec events and prevent the Application log from being overwhelmed with entries.

In addition to the large number of events logged, some backup jobs have also been seen to run more slowly than expected. The creation of the extension exceptions listed below, has been seen in testing to speed up backups.

HFXCC3227 / DWN1397444 contains an RMVP4 Software Update to address this issue.

We recommend that you apply this Software Update if the above mentioned RMVP4 issue is experienced on your network.

Before installing any update, please refer to NWS423735 in the Other Useful Articles section. This article details RM's recommendations regarding update installation and support.
