Instructions for installing updated Winstall LE Package with new exlusion lists.
Description
This version of Winstall LE (v2.0.0.2) for Community Connect 3 replaces the version originally installed on the server.
Note: Any references to Community Connect 3 in this document apply equally to RM Smart-Tools 3.
Before installing any Software Update, please refer to TEC90813 and DWN59018 on the RM Support Web site. These articles detail RM's recommendations regarding Software Update installation and support.
Platforms
HFXCC3252 should be applied to all Community Connect 3 domain controllers. It does not need to be applied on any member servers.
Symptoms
You may find that after creating a package using RM Application Wizard that the package does not install or uninstall correctly.
Cause
A common cause of this issue is that RM Application Wizard has captured files and registry keys in the MSI that are used by the operating system or by CC3 and these files are locked. This means the MSI cannot update or remove them and will fail.
The version of Winstall LE in this updated package has not changed but the exclusion lists have been updated. The exclusion lists contain files and registry entries that Winstall should ignore when capturing a package. This will help RM Application Wizard to capture cleaner packages and reduce the number of installation errors.
Requirements
This Software Update should be installed on all CC3 networks but is only required if you use RM Application Wizard.
Note: This update should be installed on all CC3 domain controller servers beginning with the Forest Root. Servers will not need to be restarted after applying this Software Update. Workstations will need to be restarted to install the latest version of the package included in this update.
