(NOTE: If you previously started to install the Security Update but cancelled the operation, follow the installation instructions in the 'Installing after cancelling a previous install' section below)
1. Download HFXCC3066.
2. Log on to your first Community Connect 3 domain controller as Administrator (not SystemAdmin) and copy the Security Update to a temporary location (e.g. D:\temp).
3. Run the Security Update by double-clicking the self-extracting executable file (HFXCC3066.exe). The Security Update will extract files automatically and run the RM Installation Assistant to begin the installation.
4. When prompted, click Continue.
5. The installation will proceed automatically. When prompted that the RM Installation Assistant has finished, click Finish.
NOTE: After installation at a server, the server will need to be rebooted for the Security Update to be applied fully.
6. Repeat Steps 2-5 at all your other Community Connect 3 domain controllers and member servers (including DAMMS and MIS servers).
NOTE: After installation at a server, the server will need to be rebooted for the Security Update to be applied fully.
7. When all Community Connect 3 domain controllers have had the Security Update applied, log in to a Community Connect 3 workstation as the SystemAdmin user and open the RM Management Console.
8. In the RM Management Console, expand Workstations, right-click on Main Site and choose to Update Package List. Click Yes to confirm this action.
9. Log in to the first Community Connect 3 domain controller server in each site as the administrator user. Run Windows Explorer and browse to D:\RMNetwork\RMManage\Station Manager. Double-click on the file Healthcheck.exe, and select OK to start the Healthcheck, and OK again when it has completed.
10. HFXCC3066 provides four new packages but does not automatically allocate them. You should allocate all four packages to all your workstations at your earliest convenience. NOTE: If you choose to allocate these packages at a later time, you must still complete all of steps 1-9 above now, including running the Update Package List and the Healthcheck.exe. The simplest way to do this is to allocate them at Main Site level. If you prefer to allocate them at a lower location, ensure that you allocate all four packages to all workstations. The four critical security packages are called:
Microsoft Jet Database Security Update KB837001 (client)
Outlook Express 6 SP1 Security Update KB837009 (client)
 Windows XP Security Update KB828741
 Windows XP Security Update KB835732
NOTE: You will need to ensure the 'Show RM system packages' box is ticked on the Packages screen of the RM Management Console to see the packages.
11. Once you have allocated the packages to workstations, restart the workstations for the security update packages to be installed. |
