Summary
Community Connect 3 software update to correct an error showing at workstation boot on networks with in excess of 128 MSI packages allocated. This update only applies to networks running Service Release 4. This Update is included in Service Release 5.
Description
Before installing any software update, please refer to TEC90813 and DWN59018 in the Other Useful Articles section below. These articles detail RM's recommendations regarding Software Update installation and support.
Any references to Community Connect 3 in this document apply equally to RM Smart-Tools 3.
This update applies to networks running Community Connect 3 Service Release 4. HFXCC3072 is included in Service Release 5 for Community Connect 3; if you have installed Service Release 5 on your network you do not need to install HFXCC3072 separately.
Issue
If more than 128 MSI packages are allocated to a Community Connect 3 workstation, the following error may be generated when the workstation is restarted and will be displayed during the boot sequence (where <hexcode> is an alphanumeric value):
The instruction at "<hexcode>" reference memory at "<hexcode>". The memory could not be read. Click OK to terminate the program. Click CANCEL to debug the program.
The title of the message box is LISTPKG.EXE - APPLICATION ERROR
Note: This will only occur if the number of MSI packages allocated is greater than 128. You may have more than 128 Community Connect 3 packages allocated to a workstation but not see this problem because some of the packages are not MSIs - for example, Microsoft security update packages are generally delivered as executables (EXEs) and will not count towards the total number of MSI packages allocated.
Solution
You should only apply this update if you have installed Community Connect 3 Service Release 4 (SR4) and have encountered the problem described above.
If you do not wish to install the update at this time, you can work-around the issue by de-allocating some MSI packages to reduce the total number allocated below 128.
What will this update change?
HFXCC3072 will update the RM AutoExNt workstation component to version 2.2.0.0 to correct the issue.
Who should install this update?
You should only apply this update if you have installed Community Connect 3 Service Release 4 (SR4) and have encountered the problem described above.
HFXCC3072 should be applied to all your Community Connect 3 domain controllers. You do not need to restart any servers but will need to restart workstations to update them with the new version of RM AutoExNt.
