Community Connect 3 Update to Software Restrictions so that any installer that uses TMP files in the Temp folder of a users local settings area can run. This Update is included in Service Release 5.
Description
**Please note this only applies to Community Connect 3™ and RM Smart-Tools 3 networks**
Before installing any software update, please refer to TEC90813 and DWN59018 in the Other Useful Articles section below. These articles detail RM's recommendations regarding software update installation and support.
Any references to Community Connect 3 in this document apply equally to RM Smart-Tools 3.
Symptoms
Some applications' installation and runtime files require access to TMP files in the Temp folder of a users local settings area. By default, this is locked down by policy and so certain applications may fail to install or users may experience some lack of functionality or program failure.
For example, Macromedia Studio MX Plus is affected by this issue. Some SIMS packages require this access in order to register DLL files correctly.
You should consider applying this Update if you are running Service Release 4 and are experiencing an application issue relating to security access to TMP files.
Requirements
This Update can be installed on to Community Connect 3 networks running Service Release 4; it is included in Service Release 5.
It should be installed on the first Community Connect 3 domain controller in each site. Servers will not need to be restarted after applying this Update, but workstations will need to be restarted for the change to take effect.
