Summary
Community Connect 3 update to fix an issue where RM Desktop Agent creates nested folders on the Start menu.
Description
**Please note this applies to Community Connect 3™ and RM Smart-Tools 3 networks**
Note: Any references to Community Connect 3 in this document apply equally to RM Smart-Tools 3.
Before installing any software update, please refer to TEC90813 and DWN59018 on the RM Support website (see 'Other Useful Articles' below.) These articles detail RM's recommendations regarding software update installation and support.
This update applies to networks running Service Release 4 and above and supersedes HFXCC3084 and HFXCC3113.
Who should install this Update?
You should apply this update if you have experienced nested Program Set shortcut folders on users' Start menus as described below. This update also includes all of the changes made in HFXCC3084 and HFXCC3113.
Symptoms
RM Desktop Agent helps to build the user's Start menu when they log on. In some circumstances, shortcuts from Program Sets can be created within nested folders. For example, a folder called Curriculum Resources appears on the user's Start, All Programs menu but itself contains a folder called Curriculum Resources. Genuine shortcuts within the Program Set called Curriculum Resources are then unavailable to the end user using RM Explorer (versions 1 and 2), but can still be accessed from the Start menu by browsing through the nested folders.
Requirements
You should install this update if you are experiencing the issue described above.
If you are using RM Explorer 2, you should also install the updated version of this product to fully correct the issue. The new upgrade for RM Explorer 2 is available by following the link to DWN202744 in the Other Useful Articles section below.
This update should be installed on all Community Connect 3 domain controllers (beginning with the Forest Root).
Servers will not need to be restarted after applying this update.
The new version of RM Desktop Agent will then be installed on workstations when they next reboot.
