Update to Group Policy Objects for RM Station Tidy Enhancement [HFXCC3131]
Published Date : 21 Jul 2005 Last Updated : 13 Feb 2020 Content Ref: DWN457842

Description

**Please note this only applies to Community Connect 3 and RM Smart-Tools 3 networks**

Before installing any software update, please refer to TEC90813 and DWN59018 on the RM Support Web site. These articles detail RM's recommendations regarding software update installation and support.

Any references to Community Connect 3 in this document apply equally to RM Smart-Tools 3.

Important: A version of HFXCC3131 was included in Service Release 5 for Community Connect 3 but is incorrect and does not implement the desired change correctly. You should therefore apply (or re-apply) HFXCC3131 after installing Service Release 5.

Platforms

This Update applies to Community Connect 3 networks using RM Station Tidy Enhancement and the Update Consolidation CD.

Symptoms

After installing the Update Consolidation CD or RM Station Tidy Enhancements, RM Station Tidy is incorrectly enabled for the Personal station type where by design it should be disabled.

In addition, the 'keep minimum number of profiles' setting is set to 2 (unless RM Station Tidy Enhancements is installed, in which case the default value of 30 applies) meaning that profile data could potentially be lost if more than two different users log on to any workstations set with the Personal station type.

Cause

The Update Consolidation CD and RM Station Tidy Enhancements both update RM Group Policy Objects. These changes contain a bug which enables RM Station Tidy for all station types, but by design RM Station Tidy should be disabled for the Personal station type.

Requirements

You should apply this Update if you are running a Community Connect 3 network and are experiencing the problem noted above.

Impact on your network
  • This Update should be installed on the first Community Connect 3 domain controller in each site on the network.
  • Servers will not need to be restarted after applying this Update.
  • Workstations set as Personal station type will need to be restarted after applying the Update.
