Summary
Community Connect 3 Update to make the Software Restrictions Policy writable following the installation of VPC for Community Connect 3.
Description
Note: Any references to Community Connect 3™ in this document apply equally to RM Smart-Tools 3.
Before installing any Software Update, please refer to TEC90813 and DWN59018 on the RM Support Web site. These articles detail RM's recommendations regarding Software Update installation and support.
HFXCC3154 can be installed on to Community Connect 3 networks with VPC for Community Connect 3 installed.

Symptoms
This Update addresses an issue after applying VPC for Communiy Connect 3.
The installation of VPC for Community Connect 3 made changes to the Software Restrictions policy, and set the policy to read-only after these changes were made. As a result, any attempts to create new hash or path rules will fail, displaying the error message "Failed to modify rule for <path>".
This Update will remove the read-only flag on the Software Restrictions GPO.
Cause
This issue is caused by a Group Policy Object change delivered by VPC for Community Connect 3.
Note: The Update can be installed on to Community Connect 3 networks running Service Release 4 or above.
This Update should be installed on the first Community Connect 3 domain controller in each site. Servers and workstations will not need to be restarted after applying this Update to correct the issue.
Requirements
You should apply this Update if you are running Service Release 4 or above, have installed VPC for Community Connect 3 and are experiencing the issue described above.
HFXCC3154 should be applied to the first Community Connect 3 domain controller in each site only. It does not need to be applied to any other servers or workstations and no servers or workstations will need to be restarted.
Download Instructions
Log on to your first Community Connect 3 domain controller as Administrator (not SystemAdmin).
Click the HFXCC3154.exe file link below to download this Update.
Choose to Save the file, browse to the temporary location you wish to save it to (eg Desktop or D:\Temp) and click Save.
When the file has downloaded, follow the installation instructions below to install the Critical Update.
Installation Instructions
How to install the Update
Note: If you previously started to install the Update but cancelled the operation, follow the installation instructions in the 'Installing after cancelling a previous install' section below:
Download HFXCC3154.
Log on to your first Community Connect 3 domain controller as Administrator (not SystemAdmin) and copy the Update to a temporary location (eg D:\temp).
Run the Update by double-clicking the self-extracting executable file (HFXCC3154.exe). The Update will extract files automatically and run the RM Installation Assistant to begin the installation.
When prompted, click Continue.
The installation will proceed automatically. When prompted that the RM Installation Assistant has finished, click Finish.
Note: This Update should only be installed on the first Community Connect 3 domain controller in each site. The server will not need to be restarted.
Installing after cancelling a previous install
Browse to D:\RMNetwork\RMManage\RM Hotfixes\HFXCC3154_extracted and double-click the file RM Installation Assistant.exe. (If this folder or its contents does not exist, re-run the HFXCC3154.exe file downloaded from the RM Support Web site.)
Follow the procedures in 'How to install the Update' from step 4 above.
Important: Interaction with RM Service Releases
The components of HFXCC3154 are included in RM Service Release 6 for Community Connect 3.
HFXCC3154 is not included in Service Release 4 or Service Release 5; it will not need to be re-applied if VPC is reinstalled.
This Update can be installed on to networks running Community Connect 3 with Local Support Tools.
