Update to RM LST for Client Connect [HFXCC3195]

Note: Any references to Community Connect 3™ in this document apply equally to RM Smart-Tools 3.

Before installing any software update, please refer to TEC90813 and DWN59018 on the RM Support Web site (see 'Other Useful Articles' below). These articles detail RM's recommendations regarding software update installation and support.



Platforms

HFXCC3195 is applicable to Community Connect 3 networks with RM Local Support Tools and RM Client Connect.



Symptoms

RM Client Connect contains an update to the RM LST SAG component to make it compatible with Windows Vista™ stations. If RM Local Support Tools is installed on a network after RM Client Connect has been installed then HFXCC3195 is required to install the new version of RM LST SAG included in the RM Client Connect product.



Cause

HFXCC3195 delivers the new version of RM LST SAG (v1.28.0.0) included in RM Client Connect to cover the scenario when RM Local Support Tools is installed after RM Client Connect has been installed on a network.



Requirements

You should only install this update if you installed RM Local Support Tools after RM Client Connect was installed.

HFXCC3195 should be installed on all Community Connect 3 Domain Controller servers beginning with the Forest Root. Servers will not need to be restarted after applying this software update, but workstations will need to be restarted to update the RM LST SAG component.



Download Instructions

  1. Log on to your first Community Connect 3 domain controller as Administrator (not SystemAdmin).
  2. Click the HFXCC3195.exe file link below to download the Update.
  3. Choose to Save the file, browse to the temporary location you wish to save it to (e.g. 'Desktop' or D:\Temp) and click Save.
  4. When the file has downloaded, follow the installation instructions below to install the Update.

Installation Instructions

How to install the Update

Note: If you previously started to install the Update but cancelled the operation, follow the installation instructions in the 'Installing after cancelling a previous install' section below:

  1. Log on to the Community Connect 3 server as an Administrator (not SystemAdmin) and copy the Update to a temporary location (e.g. D:\temp).
  2. Run the Update by double-clicking the self-extracting executable file (HFXCC3195.exe).
    The Update will extract files automatically and run the RM Installation Assistant to begin the installation.
  3. When prompted, click Continue.
  4. The installation will proceed automatically. When prompted that the RM Installation Assistant has finished, click Finish.
  5. Repeat steps 2-4 at all your other Community Connect 3 domain controllers.
  6. Restart all Community Connect 3 workstations to complete the installation across the network.

Installing after cancelling a previous install

  1. Browse to D:\RMNetwork\RMManage\RM Hotfixes\HFXCC3195_extracted and double-click the file RM Installation Assistant.exe (if this folder or its contents does not exist, re-run the HFXCC3195.exe file downloaded from the RM Support Web site).
  2. Follow the procedures in 'How to install the Update' from step 3 above.

Important - Interaction with RM Service Releases

The components of HFXCC3195 will be included in a future Community Connect 3 Service Release.

This Update can be installed on to networks running Community Connect 3 with RM Local Support Tools and RM Client Connect.

HFXCC3195 is not included in Service Release 5 or 6.
